A Skin is a very old type of mixed drink, dating back to the mid to early 1700's. It is believed to be of Irish decent, while two other drink types which share far too much similarity are the Sling from America, and the Toddy from England.
Note: since the Toddy, Sling, and Skin should essentially all contain the same "what's the difference" information, this perhaps should be captured in a separate page so there is just a single source to work from/on.
Like the Sling and the Toddy, a Skin can be made either hot or cold. Typically, if ordered in cold weather it would be hot, and vice versa.
- 2 ounces Spirit
- 2 tsp Sugar (or Syrup)
- 4 ounces water (hot or cold)
- 1 long strip of lemon peel
Combine the whiskey, sugar, and water in a mug (for hot) or glass (for cold). Squeeze the citrus peel over the drink and then drop it in.
