Identified by Imbibe Magazine as one of “The Top 25 Most Influential Cocktail Personalities of the Past Century”[1]:

"German-born bartender Hugo Ensslin wrote Recipes for Mixed Drinks in 1917, a book that would become New York’s last published bartending guide before American Prohibition. It included the Aviation cocktail for the first time in print as well as new ingredients of the day like grenadine, applejack and triple sec. Ensslin is considered a major influencer of Harry Craddock and Patrick Gavin Duffy."
